Metro State College of Denver Favors Illegals Over Americans

Metro State of Denver just set the following tuition rates for their 2012-2013 school year.

Read carefully.
In-state full-time tuition rate: $2,152.20 per semester

Unsubsidized* full-time tuition rate: $3,358.30 per semester

Out-of-state full-time tuition rate: $7,992.60 per semester

*This special rate is for students living in the state of Colorado who through no fault of their own do not have the lawful status to be eligible for resident tuition rates.
Did you catch that? A new tuition category for illegal occupiers in the State of Colorado.

But that's not all, they add insult to injury on top of it.

An American Citizen from another State must pay $4,634.30 MORE to attend their "institution of higher learning" than someone who is NOT a Citizen.

It's no secret that Denver is a 'sanctuary city' for illegals so this is a way for the college to drum up some more business by encouraging illegals to enroll at their school.

School officials estimate those students could generate about $884,000 in revenue next fall and more than $2 million in five years.

What does federal law say about this?

Federal law bars tuition discounts for illegal aliens, unless the same discount is provided to all U.S. citizen students, regardless of their state of residence – potentially costing the state millions of dollars.

The operative section of the 1996 law, 8 USC 1623, which was approved by a GOP-controlled Congress and signed into law by then-President Clinton, reads:

Notwithstanding any other provision of law, an alien who is not lawfully present in the United States shall not be eligible on the basis of residence within a State (or a political subdivision) for any postsecondary education benefit unless a citizen or national of the United States is eligible for such a benefit (in no less an amount, duration, and scope) without regard to whether the citizen or national is such a resident.

Clear as a bell, right?

But the Board of Trustees claims that the school is not in violation of the law as long as it does not give state or federal funding to illegal immigrant students.

Proposed new logo for Metro State
This should be Metro State's new logo.

It sums up their position quite succinctly, doesn't it? Preferential treatment for illegals given here.

The board members can be found here. No doubt patting themselves on the back for increasing the coffers of the school on the backs of our Countrymen except for the unknown  sole dissenter who voted against the measure.

Every day something new plays out like a page out Matt's books. In this case, it's this one.

The man can see into the future, I tell you!

  1. Good job, posting the board members.

Ass clowns should be held accountable for their illegal actions.
