The ZiP .22 LR - Gimmick or Innovative?

The ZiP .22LR Pistol

I stumbled across this .22LR pistol today on the interwebs.

My first thoughts were, "Is that real?!"

According to the website, the pistol uses standard Ruger 10/22 box magazines.

But wait! There's more! It's designed to be modular. You can attach a specially designed buttstock to it, making it a SBR. You can attached a rail on top, allowing you to mount an optic. You can add a suppressor to it. You can even attach it to the bottom rail of your AR15.

The basic pistol retails at $199.

You can check out more pictures, videos, and specs here at the ZiP Factory website.

I don't know if this is a gimmick gun or really has actual potential, but I thought I'd share it with you all.

03.29.13 UPDATE: This "non-review" of the ZiP gun should be read before anyone considers purchasing one. I never intended to buy one, but after reading this "non-review," I definitely will never be buying one.

  1. Linoge at Walls of the City has a range report up on one that was sent to him to review.

Based on his photos and experience, looks more like a gimmick than a safe and usable firearm.
