Private Military Contractor To Provide Security in Ferguson Today

ST. LOUIS August 20, 2014 — Missouri-based private security contractor Asymmetric Solutions, which employs elite former U.S. military special operators, tweeted Tuesday afternoon that the company is deploying a “high threat team in our own city”.

When responding via Twitter to a request for information, a spokesperson said “we cannot professionally hand out that information, regardless of client or location. We put a security team of former SOF personnel into the STL area at the request of a client.”

The entire tweet reads “We’ve been to Baghdad, Kabul, KL, Manilla, Peshwar, Bogata. Never guessed we would deploy a high threat team in our own city. #furgeson”.

Asymmetric Solutions employs former U.S. Navy SEALs and Army special operators.

There you have it. Looks like Officer Darren Wilson is about to be cleared of any wrong doing. This could get messy.

If it has come to this there is no question there is no way to vote our way out of this.

  5. Sounds like the grand jury is going to announce that the cop was justified in shooting the thug. LA riots re-run? All of these "day of rage" demonstrations going on today could turn very bad. Is the shooting about to start? BV is right, we aren't voting our way out of this.

    1. I don't think so. First, the investigation will not be complete until October from what I recall. Also the second Tweet clearly says they are NOT working for .GOV, or LE, etc.

So I'm guessing this is a business owner that hired them that doesn't want to get burned to the ground. That QT mart that was torched I bet was a couple million dollar investment that went up in smoke.

  6. Mercenaries have been used for thousands of years but why this situation is so unique is that PMCs do not have to swear an oath to uphold the constitution, and are not bound by laws against following illegal orders.

Slightly more than half of DOD's budget in recent years goes to PMCs and often there were more PMCs than soldiers in Iraq and Afganistan. Now that is coming here.

  7. If not for State or Law Enforcement (officer Wilson) or citizens, who the heck could this security detail be for?

    1. Once more, from that Twit thing, it's for an individual or his business/properties/investments.
Hey, if you don't have enough qualified friends, go buy some, right?

  8. A private television channel hired a team to make sure their people were safe while filming for an upcoming special on the events occurring in Ferguson. No more, no less. It was manned by former LEO and veterans most with overseas protective security experience. The detail was low profile and was without incident.
